What Does Garage Clay Do?

Claire Surma and Elise Surma, Owners of Garage Clay

“What does Garage Clay do?”

This is a GREAT question! We have made some business shifts + transitions over the two years we’ve been in biz, so you may be wondering this yourself 🙂

Here is the quick breakdown:

Garage Clay Shop Outside View

1.

We operate a brick and mortar retail store + online shop where we sell pottery making materials [clay, glazes, + pottery tools], our own line of comfy clay-approved swag, and a select offering of our finished ceramics in store.

2.

We offer Clay Day pottery classes + group experiences. The most popular is our two-person Clay Day at the Wheel lesson. We also offer 5 time process classes, punch cards to independently make with clay in our space, and group handbuilding parties

3.

We rent out our Skutt 1027 electric kiln to local makers for bisque, glaze, and third firing programs.

This includes full firings + partial firings

4.

COMING SOON: We will be releasing a Garage Clay dinnerware rental line for local events. The rental line will include place settings, bud vases, tumblers, and napkin rings. Check back soon for this 🙂

Above all else, we love creating with clay + want to share all of the goodness that goes along with it – the slow + intentional process of making, the connectivity of creating when your brain, hands, + heart all sync up, getting lost oooh’ing + ahh’ing unloading the kiln. It’s all so damn good.

We are here to make clay a more accessible creative practice for you – wherever you are on your pottery making journey 🙂
