It’s True
😭😭😭
After four sweet years of dreaming, scheming, and building this humble shop of ours, we have made the difficult decision to close Garage Clay.
There truly aren’t enough thank you’s to go around. We founded Garage Clay to make clay creating a more accessible art – for both pro ceramicists + garage potters alike, and this creative community welcomed us so warmly. You have meant so much to us, and we will forever be grateful for the customers turned friends.

Timing is a real bummer as we enter 2022 with expanded vendors, smooth shop operations, and new customers. We didn’t want it to end, but there are new adventures ahead. Claire is full-time GC shop manager, while Elise has an outside 9-5 job she is committed to. Claire is getting married in March; she and her husband-to-be aren’t confident Bozeman will be their forever home, and they are taking a year to travel + work remotely. The tricky thing about owning + operating a small retail shop is that it is location-dependent. Without Claire in Bozeman [😭], Garage Clay cannot remain open + offer the same quality products + services. Believe us, we have puzzled together all sorts of alternate options, but it doesn’t feel right to continue Garage Clay half-heartedly.
But What Does it All Mean??
🥺🥺🥺
We hope to see you in the shop to say a proper goodbye.
With so much love + clay happiness,
Claire and Elise
UPDATE:
Thursday, Feb 3rd, is the last day the Garage Clay shop will be open for regular retail hours (Mon-Thurs, 12-6 pm). Our inventory is getting so low that we won’t make it to our original shop “closing” date. |
You will still be able to place GC local pickup + shipment orders at garageclay.com until FEB 15th. We will place local pickup orders in our outdoor pickup bin right outside the shop; you will receive an email confirmation when your order is ready. |
The tried + trusted every day go-to’s
Hi There!
We are Claire and Elise, the sister-in-law duo with a passion for clay, community and customer care. We started making pots for friends + family in a small corner of our home garage and after running into hiccups with clay, glaze, and tool purchasing, the hobby quickly spun into a larger business idea. At Garage Clay we aim to make ceramics accessible to garage potters and established artists in the Bozeman and Belgrade, Montana area and beyond.
Take a look around + don’t hesitate to reach out if we can help with anything!
- 5150 Thorpe Road, Belgrade, Montana -
*ADDITIONALLY, WE OFFER FAST + CONVENIENT SHIPPING TO ANYWHERE IN THE US.*
This is the best way to stay up to date on all GC happenings!
